Synopsis:
Despite the tumour shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.
The Fault in Our Stars was first published in January 2012, it reached Number 1 in The New York Times Best Seller List. It tells the story of Star Crossed Lovers Hazel Lancaster who is sixteen and Augustus Waters both of whom have Cancer. This is a story of love and loss and what happens in between. I don't particularly want to give anymore away about the plot. It has to be read to be understood.
I thought this book cleverly examined the strengths and weaknesses of humanity. I fell in love with both Hazel and Gus and their strengths and the honesty of their feelings, and the fact that they were just real. I thought this book was going to be sad in the entirety but it wasn't. For me it gave a view that we should be doing things whilst we have the chance, and the harsh reality that we aren't all going to change the world and that is actually OK. The personalities of the characters shone through.
Never have I actually sobbed so much at the end of a book, a truly accomplished emotive piece.
