My Thoughts:
Sometimes a particular book comes along at just the right time and I knew that as soon as The Flip Side came along it would be the perfect bit of escapism from the stresses of a work return to a different job. I loved the optimism presented in The Flip Side.
When Josh's elaborate marriage proposal is declined he decides to leave fate up to the toss of a coin. A fifty pence piece to be exact. Whether heads or tails, the coin will decide what happens next and this story is what happens when you leave life up to chance and what can happen when you get there.
There is so much humour here and a lot of heartwarming moments. I found it to be completely absorbing and it certainly made me smile. I enjoyed the realness of the characters and the positivity. Nothing can be completely bad forever.
A story of finding oneself and taking routes that would have a first seemed ludicrous. Josh was a terrific character and I think this book would make a cracking film too.
The characters here have remained in my mind and I would love to know what happened to them next.
A warm and laugh out loud read that I sincerely recommend to brighten even the gloomiest of days.
