Crime reporter Henning Juul thought his life was over when his young son was murdered. But that was only the beginning…
Determined to find his son’s killer, Henning doggedly follows an increasingly dangerous trail, where dark hands from the past emerge to threaten everything. His ex-wife Nora is pregnant with another man’s child, his sister Trine is implicated in the fire that killed his son and, with everyone he thought he could trust seemingly hiding something, Henning has nothing to lose … except his own life.
Packed with tension and unexpected twists, Killed is the long-awaited finale of one of the darkest, most chilling and emotive series you may ever read. Someone will be killed. But who?
My Thoughts:
Killed is the final book in the Henning Juul series and the first that I have read by Thomas Enger. I was worried about coming in so late in the series but there is a great introduction to the characters, so I was able to pick the story up quite easily. Having said that I will read and wish I had read the rest of the books in the series as I can imagine I must have missed out.
In Killed Henning Juul is trying to find out who killed his son Jonas who died in a deliberate act in a previous book. This book is fast paced and relentless, there is violence but that is never gratuitous. This is excellent Scandinavian Noir, I was hooked. Although the plot was multi faceted and took some concentration for me to follow, I loved it.
The imagery and scenery created in Killed is very atmospheric, this book is so well written the reader feels like they are right there in amongst the action. Packed full of suspense this really is an edge of the seat experience as the reader goes along with the pace of a hurtling steam train.
This book is emotional and highly charged, the characterisations are excellent and this book would be great on TV.
I am sad that I haven't read the rest of the series but excited that I get to go back and start from the beginning.
Brilliant Scandi Noir from an accomplished and exciting writer. What more could you ask for?
Highly recommended.
